Local Scout Camp Sites

Plas Dolygaer is the location of the area’s mountain centre and camp site. The Centre provides both indoor and outdoor options and is located not far from Merthyr Tydfil and on the edge of the Brecon National Park.Please click below to visit our Dolygaer websitefor further information.

Miskin Mill is located near Pontyclun and Llantrisant, the home of the Royal Mint. There has been a water driven corn mill for most of the last 400 years. Since 1929 the site of the mill and the area around it has been in continuous use by Scouts for camping and training purposes. 'The Mill' with kitchen, eating and activity room facilities, 'The Cottage' with activity rooms, and now open is 'The Lodge', sleeping accommodation for 32, centrally heated with toilet facilities. These are set in about 3 acres of flat, tree lined fields which are bounded to the South by the river Ely across which a permanent footbridge, built in 1992, provides access to about 4 acres of woodland known as Mill Wood.

Islwyn Scout Parc is a campsite in the South Wales valleys capable of offering basic camping facilities for up to 200 people.

We’re not just for Scouts!…Although affiliated and run by the Scout Association the Parc is open to a wide range of groups, societies and organisations who wish to camp in South Wales. Buildings onsite include the lodge (with conference room, kitchen and dormitories), toilet block & showers, and an activity centre with integral climbing wall. The lodge and activity centre can be hired separately, or along with the fields depending on your requirements.
